Join the Movement to Support Nebraska's School Readiness Tax Credits

Quality child care is not just a key work support for parents, but it is also critical for the healthy development of young children to ensure they start school ready to succeed. LB 889, The Nebraska School Readiness Tax Credit Act, introduced by Senator Heath Mello and co-sponsored by Senators Campbell, Cook, Kolowski, Kolterman, McCollister, Stinner and Sullivan, is a package of tax credits designed and proven to increase access to quality early childhood programs by supporting families, early childhood programs, the early childhood workforce, and businesses that support high quality early childhood programs.

By providing tax credits that directly and financially benefit the child care industry, Nebraska can successfully move the entire early childhood system to higher levels of quality. The Nebraska School Readiness Tax Credit Act will help to move more providers into Step Up to Quality (Nebraska’s Quality Rating and Improvement System), assist parents to be able to choose and afford higher quality child care, provide more means for the early childhood workforce to grow professionally, and strengthen economic development.

Most importantly, the tax credits support Nebraska’s youngest children with targeted emphasis on the 64,127, or 42%, of all young children from birth through age five considered at risk of failing in school.[i]

Families and employers depend on quality child care for the stability of today’s employees and to invest in tomorrow’s workforce. Sign the petition to show your support for the Nebraska School Readiness Tax Credit Act.
